SOM#1 Agenda
At the inaugural scheme meeting (on the 29th July 2019) of those institutions that signalled their interest in joining YuTru last year, the interim scheme commissioner will outline: (a) the operational 12-month work program, (b) the scheme’s membership structure, and (c) the supporting digital literacy program to be delivered by Neocapita Security Consulting and the Centre of Excellence in Financial Inclusion.
YuTru is PNG’s private-sector digital trust framework. The framework, put simply, consists of a set of rules, procedures, and standards for secure digital identification, with an accompanying blockchain-based registry and technology platform.
The platform will be built on open and published international standards and specifications for digital identification, so the system will remain independent of any single vendor. This is critical to avoid the costly, all-too-common, and decades-old problem of “vendor lock-in” associated with technology systems.
As a customer, if you are registered with YuTru once, you are accepted at every member institution that displays the YuTru brand. Registering for a YuTru identity is also possible via the Internet without ever needing to visit a branch using a basic level smartphone.
Using multiple biometrics, liveness detection, social networking, behavioural measurements, and immutable ledger technology; means that once you are registered it will hard to fool the system and register again under a different name. You become the source document, and there’s only one true You.
