CyberSecurity Awareness Month : Protecting your digital ID with MFA
October is the month of raising awareness on the increasing cyber attacks. This year the awareness focuses on four (4) key area:
- Using strong passwords and a password manager;
- turn on multi-factor authentication;
- recognize and report phishing; and
- update your software.
We will focus on turning on multi-factor authentication (MFA) to protect your digital ID.
Multi-factor authentication consists of different levels of authenticating or proving one’s identity before gaining access to sensitive information, services or online resources. With Multi-factor authentication, three (3) types of data is needed to prove your identity,
Something you know – password, pin or secret question;
Something you have – authenticator app, phone sms, hardware token;and
Something you are – biometrics – fingerprint, face scan, voice, etc.
When enabling MFA you add an extra layer of security to protect your identity online. With the design of YuTru Digital Identity, MFA is used in the authentication method to safeguard users of YuTru. This also protects users against identity theft and increases trust in the YuTru Scheme. All this is taken care of by the YuTru Digital System and eases the burden of users and businesses to worry about protecting and trusting how their information is shared and stored while engaging in an online transaction.
