Kim Cameron’s 7 Laws of Identity
The Internet was built without an identity layer. Despite this we connect, but do not know with whom we are connected or are interacting with. The late Kim Cameron, was Microsoft’s chief identity architect who in 2004-2005 published a paper known as the Laws of Identity. The paper set out answers to the question “Why was it difficult to create an identity layer for the Internet?” in the form of seven laws of identity. Since 2005, these laws have been fundamental to the development of digital identity. The laws are summarised as follows:
